[ Hzgg 3 - Episode 4 ]

Today’s episode started with the continuation of the scene from the previous episode where Yong Qi was scolding one of them baddies why they were very loyal to Magistrate Fong. Xiao Yan Zi, Xiao Jian, Er Kang and Yong Qi managed to capture Magistrate Fong where he was brought to face Huangshang. Mad, Huangshang asked Fong to be killed right away and a few Magistrates gladly killed him, beheading him in front of the villagers. Zi Wei was scared and Er Kang covered her eyes with his hand.


Later they continued their journey to Southern China. In the carriage, Lao Fo Ye commented how Fong’s bad attitude pissed her off. Xiao Yan Zi added that he was a Fong [It’s Fang actually, stupid translation... Hehe…] and a part of her family, why was he so mean and stuff. Lao Fo Ye turned to face her, asking how many people left in her family other than her and her brother. So Xiao Yan Zi answered they are two in their family. Xiao Yan Zi moved to sit closer to Lao Fo Ye, talking all nice things about Xiao Jian while Qing Er just sat next to Xiao Yan Zi, all blushing. Lao Fo ye said that her brother was weird, his surname was Fang but why did he call himself Xiao Jian. Qing Er explained to Lao Fo Ye that Xiao [flute] Jian [Sword] is just a nickname, they came from a rich family but in the end everything was gone. Huangshang added that Xiao Jian was weird, he refused to accept Huangshang’s offer to become an Imperial Magistrate. Xiao Yan Zi protected her brother and told them that Xiao Jian wants freedom and roams the world. So Lao Fo Ye commented sarcastically that that’s the reason why Xiao Jian hasn’t found a wife yet.


She then continued, asking Xiao Yan Zi whether there was any living relative left. So Xiao Yan Zi said there’s none left, all killed by a bad guy. Huangshang, Zi Wei, Lao Fo Ye and Qing Er were shocked by the answer. Huangshang quickly asked her who was that bad person and why nobody ever told him about it. He said he only knew that her parents had died but who killed them? Not wanting things to go worse, Zi Wei stepped out and stopped Xiao Yan Zi from continuing, telling them she didn’t know anything about it too. So Zi Wei changed the topic, telling them that they were about to arrive in Hai Ning [Correct me if I’m wrong, please…?] and asked him where will they stay for the night. Huangshang told them they will be staying at his old friend’s house, Chen Ban Zhi. He commented that his garden was as the same as the garden in Suzhou [???] Lao FoYe continued that Chen’s 4 daughters must be all grown up already. Xiao Yan Zi just looked at them curious.


They arrived at the Chen’s Resident at night and all of them were seated in the living room. Soon the 4 daughters of Chen entered the living room and paid their respects to Lao Fo Ye. Chen Ban Zhi introduced her daughters to Lao FoYe. They are Zhi Qing, Zhi Qi, Zhi Shu and Zhi Hua [Argh! I hate the look on her face, pretending to be innocent! Ahhh! Wanna kill her? Hehe…]. Lao Fo Ye commented that Chen was great, having 4 beautiful daughters. Chen being a humble guy said they were nothing compared to the beautiful princesses. Lao Fo Ye asked Chen whether her daughters are married yet. Chen answered only Zhi Hua is not married yet and continued whether Lao Fo Ye has a perfect candidate for Zhi Hua’s future husband.


Lao Fo Ye began liking Zhi Hua and bombarded her with all sorts of questions. Zhi Hua is a 17-year-old [Wah, so young and already want to steal someone else’s husband meh?] and reads various types of book, which impressed Lao Fo ye greatly. Yong Qi turned to look at Xiao Yan Zi who was feeling uneasy when Zhi Hua said her father taught her history, telling that Chinese people need to know the history of China. Lao Fo e said that if she finds someone to marry Zhi Hua they can’t decline her offer. Yong Qi who was looking at Zhi Hua all the time noticed Xiao Yan Zi glaring at him and felt guilty. When Lao Fo Ye asked Huangshang what about their own family, Huangshang shockingly looked at Lao Fo Ye. Er Kang and Yong Qi were feeling rather uneasy and the girls began to worry. Lao Fo ye commented that a child as good as Zhi Hua must become a Fu Jin [Royal Family Member]. Upon hearing this, Xiao Yan Zi’s eyes widened and Yong Qi looked at her, feeling worried as well.

The scene changed to where Xiao Yan Zi entered her room, feeling all mad and settled on a chair. Yong Qi entered and asked why she was mad since he didn’t say anything at all. Xiao Yan Zi answered back that Yong Qi kept looking at Zhi Hua throughout the whole time when Lao Fo Ye said she wanted to introduce a husband to her. She continued, saying that now he saw a girl who is good in everything and beautiful, he cannot control himself anymore. Yong Qi denied it and said was it wrong to even look at her only once! Xiao Yan Zi protested and said can’t. Yong Qi answered back why she is acting like this. Xiao Yan Zi stood up and faced Yong Qi, telling him that she’s always like that. She continued that she’s not a good girl and it’s better if Yong Qi divorce her so that he can marry a lot of concubines. Er Kang commented on them, I don’t know what he said because there was no translation about it but I think Er Kang was teasing her because he ended up smiling and Zi Wei just looked at him weirdly. Yong Qi commented that she was being unreasonable. Zi Wei went to stop Xiao Yan Zi and said she was going over the line, telling her that Lao Fo ye, Huangshang and Yong QI didn’t say anything at all and she’s just feeling worried and jealous too early. Er Kang added that it’s true because things are not that easy. With the Chen’s family status, their daughter won’t become a concubine only [Bleargh…]. Even if Lao Fo Ye intended to do something, she won’t dare to say it out loud.


He advised Xiao Yan Zi not to be angry and worried anymore. Xiao Yan Zi told Zi Wei not to say like that since Lao Fo Ye wasn’t looking for a concubine for Er Kang. If she was and Er Kang looked at the girl all the time, Zi Wei would feel the same too. Yong Qi protested saying he didn’t do it! He continued saying that after all these years, Xiao Yan Zi must have known his feelings very well and she should have improved [God darn, it’s hard to translate Malay+Chinese to English] and not the same as the old Xiao Yan Zi. I wonder why Yong Qi has to rub it in… He continued that Xiao Yan Zi hasn’t improved at all but became even worse. [See what I told you…]. Xiao Yan Zi feeling all sad said he’s right. She is now more evil [Haha!] and stupid and he gets angry at her, looking down on her. She said she worked hard to study just to talk like you [Royal People] and tried hard to get Lao Fo Ye’s attention but he said she didn’t improve at all.


She added sadly that Yong Qi has changed [I agree 100%, where is my old Yong Qi!!! Waaahhh!] and his heart has changed. She said she understands it and she should just leave. Zi Wei stopped Xiao Yan Zi, telling her that they’re guests; if she leaves Lao Fo Ye will criticize her even more. She asked Yong Qi to stop his wife but Yong Qi simply answered to let her go. He added that she didn’t care about Lao Fo Ye, why must he bother about her [*&^%$^* Yong Qi!!!].Knowing that things were getting out of hand, Er Kang stepped in and said if Xiao Yan Zi didn’t care, she wouldn’t have been worried and angry. It’s all because of love [Now I love Er Kang even more!!!]. He asked Yong Qi to think about it, there’s no reason for him to be mad anymore. Xiao Yan Zi told Er Kang not to take her side, saying that Yong Qi looked down on her and it wasn’t the first time, adding that he really wanted to marry girls like them. She said to let her leave, let them be Fu Jin instead.


So she ran out from the room and Yong Qi didn’t do anything until Er Kang scolded him to run after her. Yong Qi answered back he didn’t care and just let her go. Zi Wei said he can’t and reminded him of something that had happened earlier. What if she get lost in this place? She asked him whether he really didn’t care about her and forced him to chase after her. Realizing that he was wrong, Yong QI quickly ran out from the room to look for Xiao Yan Zi.


Xiao Yan Zi was sitting on a bench by this big pond and thought about Yong Qi not loving him anymore, that’s why he was so mad at her. So why should she be so patient about this and thought that she must leave and never come back but just sighed instead. Then Yong Qi came into the picture, stopping a few meters away from Xiao Yan Zi and cleared his throat to get Xiao Yan Zi’s attention. Xiao Yan Zi rolled her eyes, annoyed when she saw Yong Qi. Yong Qi just smiled and sat next to her. Xiao Yan Zi moved and sat a foot away. Yong Qi just followed her and sat next to her again. Xiao Yan Zi once again moved away from him and this time Yong Qi rolled around and sat next to her, grabbing her hand. Xiao Yan Zi asked Yong Qi not to bother about her. Yong Qi answered back, asking her who should he care about then. Xiao Yan Zi turned to Yong Qi and said it’s up to him. Yong Qi began his long talk, saying that she has no reason to be angry. He added that he had sworn one too many times already, saying that he won’t love anyone but Xiao Yan Zi alone. Xiao Yan Zi said she didn’t want to hear all those things. I guess Yong Qi said some Chengyu or poem after this because they never translate it. Xiao Yan Zi answered him that she didn’t want to study or do anything for him anymore, asking him not to bother about her. Yong Qi then clapped his hands and said something… making Xiao Yan Zi stood up and voiced out her opinion.


Yong Qi then came from behind, hugging her tightly [One thing I notice, this new Yong Qi has a weird way of hugging Xiao Yan Zi… ]. Yong Qi told her passionately that he really loves her, it doesn’t matter the old Xiao Yan Zi or the Xiao Yan Zi standing in front of him. Seeing Xiao Yan Zi worked hard for him touched his heart. He said he shouldn’t have said those words, saying that he was angry. He added that this fight is actually doesn’t make sense. Xiao Yan Zi turned to face him when she heard him sighing out loud. She said he really blamed her for everything. Yong Qi cupped her face in his hands, telling that she was right and he was wrong. He said that in front of those 4 girls, he should have closed his eyes but instead he looked at them. He said when Lao Fo ye said she wanted to look for a husband, he should have deafened his ears. Then he continued, saying hearing the story and Xiao Yan Zi being all mad, he should have pleaded guilty but no, he fought her back. Yong Qi smiled, making Xiao Yan Zi all grinning . But then she turned around, feeling embarrassed. Yong Qi embraced her from her side, telling some reciting some poem I guess. Xiao Yan Zi smiled and then dove into Yong Qi’s arms, adding that Yong Qi must not accept Zhi Hua. Yong Qi vowed to fight against Lao Fo Ye and let him decide in this matter. Xiao Yan Zi shook Yong Qi’s face, telling him no matter who they are he cannot marry them. Yong Qi answered back that he only wanted her alone, making Xiao Yan Zi all smiling again. Then they kissed passionately under the moonlight…


Zi Wei and Er Kang entered their room where Zi Wei asked Er Kang whether Lao Fo ye really intended to make Zhi Hua as Yong Qi’s concubine. Er Kang answered that he thinks she really wanted to do so. Zi Wei was worried, saying that Xiao Yan Zi was mad today and if it really happens, what will she do! Er Kang sat and said that it really happens, Xiao Yan Zi will be damn jealous. Er Kang then told Zi Wei that Huangshang had decided to make Wu Ah Ge, Yong Qi a Tai Zi [Crown Prince]. He added that it’s so obvious that Huangshang only brought Yong Qi along on this trip. But this thing changed because of Xiao Yan Zi. Lao Fo ye never agreed to marry Xiao Yan Zi to Yong Qi, because of her background, but because of them, she relented. He added that it’s been 4 years since they were married and still no child, this is the most serious thing of all. He explained in the palace, having a child is very important, especially Yong Qi. Xiao Yan Zi still didn’t bear Yong Qi child after 4 years, nobody can protect her now. Lao Fo ye can marry Yong Qi to someone else, maybe marry him to more concubines and there’s nothing Huangshang can do about it. Zi Wei nonchalantly asked Er Kang whether he would marry a concubine if she never borne him Dong Er. Er Kang just laughed and reminded her, what he had sworn to Xia Yu He. So they hugged each other.


Later that night, Xiao Yan Zi dragged Qing Er out from her room to meet Xiao Jian secretly in a gazebo after Lao Fo ye had fallen asleep. But Qing Er was scared and wanted to go back to her room. Later they bumped into Huang Hou and the female members of Chen family. They couldn’t do anything as one of the daughters politely volunteered to show Qing Er some flowers in the garden. Zhi Hua volunteered to guide Xiao Yan Zi. They didn’t have any choice but followed the group and Xiao Jian waited at the gazebo all night long. Later that night Xiao Jian played his flute [He played ‘Ni Shi Feng Er, Who Shi Sha’ tune]


The next day, they all went for a tour around Chen’s garden. The garden was called ‘Garden of small lions’. Xiao Yan Zi commented she didn’t see any lions and Lao Fo Ye agreed too. Zhi Hua explained that the rocks in the garden resembled small lions. Xiao Yan Zi then said they look like something else. Yong Qi asked her what and she answered they looked just like rocks. They all laughed at her. They stopped and then Lao Fo ye said that she likes Zhi Hua a lot and wanted to bring her into the palace to look for a husband for her. Xiao Yan Zi and Yong Qi just looked at each other. Noticing the awkward looks, Er Kang stepped forward commenting how pretty the garden is. Huangshang then asked them to recite poems. Everybody joined in except Xiao Yan Zi of course. When Yong Qi recited a line of poem and Zhi Hua answered him, Xiao Yan Zi just looked at Yong Qi with a sharp glare. Not wanting to break a fight again, Yong Qi gave another line for Xiao Yan Zi to answer but her answer made everyone laughed. Xiao Yan Zi added that she’s not good in reciting poems but she’s good in something else. She sang a song for them and impressed all of them except Lao Fo Ye. Zhi Hua silently thought that Huan Zhu Gege is a smart princess.


Later the Chen girls performed some musical show. The 3 older sisters played the musical instruments while Zhi Hua danced while drawing at the same time. They all were impressed by her. Er Kang and Zi Wei commented on how good the drawings are. Yong Qi joined in but stopped when he got a glare from Xiao Yan Zi. Qing Er stepped forward, asking Lao Fo Ye to bring Zhi Hua into the palace to accompany her. Lao Fo ye said she also wanted 2 assistants since Huangshang has 2 assistants, Zi Wei and Xiao Yan Zi. Zhi Hua then said she heard Huan Zhu Gege is a good dancer and would like to see her performance. Xiao Yan Zi eagerly stepped out but Zi Wei stopped her…


The end of episode 4. wow, why so long! Usually only 3-4 pages but this time, up to 6 pages already! My fingers are hurt…. Waaahhhh!


[Ranting Time…]


What the hell! It’s only episode 4 and Lao Fo Ye already tried to break Yong Qi and Xiao Yan Zi apart! Damn I hate Lao Fo Ye a lot.


Second, I noticed Yong Qi had changed tremendously. What had happened to him now? He looked as if he didn’t care about Xiao Yan Zi at all! Darn you but I guess I won’t chop his head off this time because he made up to her in the end.


Zhi Hua! She’s pretty, I cannot deny it. But she’s 17 for heaven’s sake! She’s good in everything including stealing people’s husband, I guess… Hehe…


Overall this episode is better than episode 3. Just that I’m annoyed by Zhi Hua’s appearance and Yong Qi’s weird attitude…
